I have an 02 monte ss that will not start. Lights and everything works fine. Battery is practically brand new. when you turn the key to start the car, everything shuts off and the check engine light comes on only. my car only has 55,000 original miles on it. wondering if it is some kind of security issue? any thoughts?

Sorry to read about your problem...The first thing I would do is make sure your battery connections are tight & also the connection is tight on your starter. (Even new batteries can have bad cells & not have enough juice to turn over a engine).

Is this the first time this has happened ? Please post as many details as possible on your problem & hopefuly one of our expert tech member's can assist/help..

If your security light comes on to i might can help you. turn the key to the on postion. turn your radio off and then hold down disp button 4 til you see display pop up on your radio. go to alarm and turn it off. then turn car off and it should turn right on. i had the same thing happen to my car today.
