01 SS problems!
So i got back from my deployment abs have had a few issues.....
Car would not idle correctly and would shut off... replaced the MAf and it has worked like a charm ever since.. well the past couple days when it has been hot the car will start hard then die. In order for me to keep it running i got to keep pushing on the gas. Otherwise it will just die..... But it doesnt happen all the time???? im thinking it is the Idle Control....
Anyone got opinions?

Sure sounds like a bad IAC to me.
When the car is cold, have someone start the car and listen under the hood near the throttle body. If the IAC is working, you should hear a hissing from the throttle body. You can amplify this by removing the intake tube and running an open throttle body.
If you don't hear a "hissing" from the IAC, it's probably not working. Our IAC is very loud- I've heard folks compare it to Darth Vader's breathing.
Is the car throwing a check engine light? If so, get the codes read and let us know what they are.

I've had brand new parts store parts need to be replaced 3x in a row...point is, sometimes the stuff you buy at Advance/Autozone/Checkers is bad right out of the box.
That said, if you're having power delivery problems, it's not the IAC. Again, is it throwing a code? If so, have the codes read.
Lots of stuff can cause the issues your having- the ECT, fuel pump/filter, etc.
If you suspect it's a fuel filter, check fuel pressure at the front rail- should be 45+ PSI if I recall correctly.

How long has the car been sitting? Could this just be "old gas"? Changing the fuel filter may not be bad just as general maintainance (many people neglect them). I just have how GM normally places it in the BEST spot to rust together!
Also, make sure the fuel filter is clear (and no critters nested in there).
EDIT - I meant to say " Also, make sure the AIR filter is clear (and no critters nested in there)."....
