Real Time Engine Tuning with Vivid Linq App

= 2012 by Tom Wilson

Hot rod engine tuning can now live in your trouser pocket, or wherever else you may keep your smart phone.
It was twenty years ago when we first saw a hot rod tuner change the idle speed on a Mustang using a computer, and admittedly it was a transformational moment for those of us used to screwdrivers and Holley carburetors. But now electronic engine tuning has advanced to the point where altering your turbo boost can be done between tending your Farmville plot and texting your girlfriend.
That’s right, Superchips, a leading electronic tuning house, has released Vivid Linq for use on third-party Android devices such as smart phones and tablets. A collection of software and dongles, Vivid Linq integrates engine management tuning with the rest of the connected world via the web.
The new app is also joined by similar smart phone tuning solutions from Diablo Sport—InTune—and SCT Performance’s Apple-specific offering called iTSX. It allows sprucing up your base spark tables from the convenience of your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
Superchips says Vivid Linq is the first pocket-sized device to give engine management tuning, instrumentation, data acquisition, diagnostics, web connectivity and entertainment in one platform.
A Bluetooth-enabled OBD-II module, Vivid Linq features a 1GHz processor and several Superchips automotive apps already installed. Examples of these are labeled Performance Tuning, Gauge Set, Maintenance Minder, Driving Coach, Inclinometer and G-Force Meter. So it can not only let you tune your ride, but show you how to drive it, and tell you just how many degrees off level it is when it comes to rest after you get it wrong.
Perhaps the captain of the Costa Concordia would have found this useful.
Once you’re out from under the hood, or more accurately, not so consumed with spark lead and injector pulse widths while sitting in the driver’s seat of your hot rod as it’s strapped to a chassis dyno, Vivid Linq handles all the usual digital device’s core competencies such as social media, video, photos, music and memory for more. We suppose that includes girlie calendars, just to maintain the historical hot rod garage aspect in this digital age.
Vivid Linq will be available soon; pricing has not been announced.

Description

Android smart phones are everywhere; now turn yours into a super awesome engine tuner for your truck or SUV. SuperChips is proud to offer the Vivid LINQ performance chip that utilizes Bluetooth technology to turn your smart phone to a power programmer.

To get started go to the Android app marketplace and download the FREE application and use the demo mode to play around. Next purchase and plug the Vivid LINQ into your vehicle's OBDII port, set up the Bluetooth connection and away you go! Use the handy window mount to hold your phone in place while driving, we don't need anyone getting tickets for using the program from your lap.

SuperChips Vivid LINQ has all the features you need for any type of driving. They have you covered for highway, street, track and even off-road. Tunes are available for fuel economy, heavy towing, off-road and of course maximum horsepower (insert home improvement man grunts here).

Other features include a stellar array of gauges to choose from and multiple layouts to personalize it to your exact needs. You can specialize the gauges to monitor EGT's, lap times, pitch and roll, and even G-force. The Vivid LINQ performance programmer uses a 3 axis accelerometer and graphics accelerator to measure your pitch and roll during those rock crawling trips.

You want more… well ok this performance tuner will even set reminders to get your oil changed, tires rotated or automatically send you a trouble code summary when the engine light comes on (isn't technology awesome). There are a ton of other minor features varying by make and model and this description would go on forever if I listed them all.

If this description isn't enough to entice you, go ahead download the Android app from the link below and play around in the demo mode before making your purchase, or just take our word and purchase the SuperChips Vivid LINQ performance programmer for your truck or SUV today.

Here is the link to the SuperChips Vivid applilcation in the Android Marketplace.
