Default Stuck in my own yard, barried in the mud

My 2005 monte is barried in the mud and starting to rain gain. Where is the best place to hook a chain or strap? It needs to be pulled out from the rear end . The front is not looking like a option without hours of digging and I'm a woman on her own. Frustrated

Well, these cars dont have many anchor points. So if I was in your position here is how I would attempt.

A. Get 2 long tow straps (pretty new, somewhat high strength, not thin ones for sure)

B. Connect one to each rear tire, feed it through the spokes from inside out. Like the sketch demonstrates.

C. Think perhaps 6 ft or so out, tie the 2 straps together. Mostly to prevent them from shifting about, getting trapped under tires etc. as it is being pulled.

D. Hook straps to the towing vehicle. You want to keep the straps as level as reasonably possible (to not put any undue upward pressure on the plastic bumper and damage it).
If possible, attach the strap to the towing vehicle low, if they have a tow ball on the hitch that is called a "drop down" have them use it. Or wrap aound a strong point on the tow vehicle, like low
on the axle. Just dont jerk the truck or axle damage may occur.

E. Put and leave your Monte's transmission in "Neutral".

F. Slowly take up the slack out of tow strap and then tow the Monte out.

***NOTE: Your Montes back wheels wont be rotating, the car should just drag backwards easy enough as it's all on the mud. Once the car is on solid ground, disconnect. I suspect your wheels will get scuffed from the strap, but you have to get the car out. Anyway in my mind this should work. I used to be a Recovery Specialist in the Army, drove large tactical wreckers, tank retrievers etc. If things get sketchy stop and scratch your head. Also, thinking, if you can't get 2 long tow straps, perhaps a short stout strap can be fed through the wheels and looped together to itself. And then take a chain or braided metal cable through each individual tires loop and then attach that chain / cable to the tow vehicle. I would like to see very strong straps used, at least 3" to 4" wide ones used. If you use a chain / cable alternate method, make sure they are strong. Not some cheesy weak links or thin cable. For safety, always stand clear, well back and away of the tow strap as should it snap, it can whip with tremendous force and break your legs or such. Safety 1st Sassy!

Any questions?? I wouldn't try digging out at the rear so very much, as you may create a hole that the car stays down in. Let it pull up and out on the incline.

Feed strap from inside to out if possible

That looks like a great plan!! Everytime I have seen a tow truck on these they have something that slides under the car and then the tires set on rails and they just drive off. but that won't work in a Stuck in the mud situation. Good luck!!

Ha Sarge, like we know, it looks like a great plan, till its not a great plan... Just throwing something out there for a self recovery kinda thing. Seems like she was in a pickle, crunched on $$ or local friend resources. Hope she got out.

I recall a time in the 80's when I was out scouting for some new Hunting areas and there were 2 of us, each in pickup trucks and the one behind me was 4 wheel drive and he had also provided some refreshments, but it was country driving on the flat. So we are cruising down this road and my passenger said did you see that sign is said water on the road? No, but there wasn't any water on the road.
Before I could stop I was in the Mud about 15 feet just, deep enough that it wouldn't move. 4 wheel drive truck behind me pulled me back out.
Then another time in Kansas I was making a delivery with a big truck to a Farm and that was a little bit worse. Farmer had to pull me out with a Big Tractor. I tried to pay him but he wanted to show off the Tractors ability. Fun stuff!! worse part was cleaning my boots afterwards. lol
