I would be up for a meet in Des Moines (that's my home base).

maybe at a park or some lake and do a grill out/bbq kind of thing?
if there is an area to do some grilling then Grays Lake would be a good spot

X2 Gray's Lake would be a great spot. Should be fairly easy to find for people unfamiliar with the area.

Good guys hot rod show is June 29, 30, and July 1 at the State Fairgrounds. It is a really big show for hot rods '72 and older.

Official Website for the Goodguys Heartland Nationals

We could use the same weekend. We could have a Saturday afternoon/evening event. People could take Friday night, Saturday morning or Sunday till 3 to see the Hot Rods and vendors at the fairgrounds.

About 40 miles east of here is the Iowa Speedway in Newton IA. There is a NASCAR event May 19/20, an Indy car event June 22/23 and a NASCAR truck event July 13/14. For those we might be able to get a field near the raceway and have a fun early Saturday event.

Iowa Speedway: Race Weekends: Iowa Entertainment, Events, Racing, Concerts

Maybe this is too much for one weekend, but it could be quite a kick to have more than one thing to do.

I like the Iowa Speedway idea. Or there is Sailorville Lake. I would have the ugly duckling of the group with my 93 Lumina Z34. I wasnt going to post until it turned to a W Body meet.
