Well the Super Chevy event 2011 in Las Vegas at "The Strip" is history. The wind was over 35 MPH on Friday, all time trials, test-n-tune's cancelled. 55 gallon trash barrels were being blown across the lot, fences finally gave way and collapsed, vendors displays had to be kept to a minimum. On Saturday it was not so bad as there were only 15 mph winds and occasional gusts. Sunday was decent.
My Monte just could not seem to hook up, best time was a 12:27, pulled a 13 something another time. Another racer told me I was just smoking the tires for 300 feet and that's what was killing me. Went to the Autocross again and for some reason kept blowing my brake booster vacuum line off the backside of the manifold and loosing my brakes. So after 4 or 5 passes I just called it a day on the Autocross. I took the car back to the Car Show on Sunday and Marie and I cleaned and shined the hell out of it. At the awards ceremony we were called up and awarded the "Best of Class" for the Monte Carlo's.
The award was a Plaque and a cool Super Chevy jacket.

So all in all the trip was good enough. Many many nice Chevrolet cars, drag racing and 2 jet cars, Pro-Mods, Pro-street,Top fuel Dragsters.
Went to Freemont Street in Las Vegas and partied till 2 am. If you have never seen or been there it's 3 city blocks long completely covered by a lighted arched canopy about 100 ft in height. They flash lights and colors and at the top of every hour play a video of Kiss, The Doors etc. It's like a carnival atmosphere, you can walk around outside and drink all the beer, Rum & Coke etc. Street performers I think that was the best part of the whole trip..........
