There's a probation-type period for all members upon joining up. 5 posts and 10 days from the day you signed up.

The reason for this is because a lot of forums, including ours, had a huge problem recently. Spammers were signing up and spreading viruses and unwanted advertising by using Private Messaging. The "probation" period was an attempt to slow down the spam problem.

I can see you have 6 posts. I'll take a look at your account and see what I can do.

Edit: You should be okay now.

Arg. This WAS fixed ... and I had been (for the last few months) able to log in, hit "new posts" ... and get all that I hadn't read since the last time I was here (in this case, March 27). TONIGHT, however ... I do the same thing ... and get the "nothing to be displayed" message. Obviously, that is wrong.

I know I know...new software, etc....just venting because it takes a LOT longer to get through the board when you don't have the "new posts" available...and I tend to miss more posts that way, too.

Forum gets purchased (a couple years ago) by a company that owns many other forums covering a wide range of subjects including cars. -- Positive!

Company also owns a software company. -- Positive!

Software company develops forum software, and all of their forums get first shot at the latest versions of their software. -- Positive....sort of.

Unfortunately, this also means we experience all the little bugs and glitches first.

Sorry for the problems Cort. I'll see what, if anything, I can do.

For the record, the techs do appreciate the feedback. So they can make corrections to future software upgrades.

No worries, Taz ... I understand, to a point.

After all ... this is the ONLY forum I've ever had this type of problem with "new posts". For the record, it didn't work again tonight........
