Problem with new 3rd party stereo
I just installed a new 3rd party stereo in my 2004 Monte Carlo SS. It worked great for about a day and then the speakers stopped working (no sound anymore). I was thinking it might be a fuse somewhere but have been unable to locate fuses for the speakers. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Thanks for any ideas.

Did you just install the aftermarket in the car and use existing speakers etc?
AMP compatible? Sometimes the amp will not work with the new stuff?
I thought about the idea of a wire coming lose but given that there are 8 wires in pairs that would require that at least 1 wire for each pair came loose and given that I soldered all the wires together and put heat shrink around each I am fairly confident that nothing has come loose.
Yes I only changed the radio and kept the existing amp and speakers.
I assumed that the amp would be compatible (maybe a bad assumption) It did work for a day. I found 2 devices in the trunk, one mounted on the side wall over the tire and the other is up underneath on the inside. I can find no markings on either device so not sure what they are, any suggestion?
I know a fair amount about how to handle electrical systems but I am a neophyte when it comes to changing a stereo in a car but I am game to learn.

Years ago I did the replace the stereo thing in several cars but I never seem to get the sound that I really wanted.
