Default EGR Insufficient Flow

Hello Everyone.

I have a '02 Monte Carlo LS. The CEL came on a few months ago and I just had the EGR valve replaced because that's what the test revealed. The CEL did not turn of after the replacement. Now the code is EGR Insufficient Flow. Can someone offer some advice. I do not want to be nickel and dimed to death since many mechanics like to do this to females. Thank you.

There is an egr pipe that bolts to the egr valve then goes into the engine block. Over time carbon accumulates in the pipe and can restrict flow or plug it up. I would start with removing this pipe and cleaning it out.

I have had the EGR valve changed because the CEL was on. I was told that this is why. The CEL is still on and now there is a smell of fuel when I get out of my car after driving. Any thoughts? This is the first time I have every smelled this. Thanks.
