Check Engine Light(Yellow)
My "check engine" light came on a couple days ago. I immediately took my car to a Chevy Dealer. A man at the desk said i should drive it for a couple days, "Maybe your gas cap was loose, see if that helps. If its still on, its gonna cost $47 for a half hour or $96 for an hour(If it takes that long) just for us to check it"
Well, its still on, but i definitely don't want to pay $100 JUST to have the car looked at. Any suggestions or advice about what it "COULD" be??
Any help would be great.
PS. Was thinking about subscribing to ONSTAR(My car comes Onstar ready). They have a diagnostics check. Think that would be able to tell me what the light is for?

Advance and Auto Zone will pull the code for free BUT don't necessarily trust them to sell you the right part. Mine threw a cat converter code and they tried to sell me an o2 sensor (it really was a bad cat). Get the code from them, then look it up yourself on the internet, go from there.
might want to post this in the correct section next time...
do what is said above, and go to advance auto parts, autozone, ect... they will give ya the code and go from there. i HIGHLY recommend not getting the part on the spot, as dusty said, its not always right and they wont take it back for a return.
