Question Will car still start if I replace trunk amp?

So, the '01 SS I bought last year has some kind of messed-up speaker system. I think about half the speakers work, and the guy I bought it from said it was an issue with the trunk amp and he did a kind of work-around that avoided the amp and still could use the cassette deck, but not the radio. Also I can't remember if the steering wheel audio controls still work? Anyway, he claimed that the amp from my '04 would work in the '01. I forgot to mention in my other post that the '01 was originally set up for Onstar whereas the '04 never was. Also, now I am worrying that my car won't start if I have this fooled with?

The amp isnt needed for any necessities. Its the factory stereo head unit that can cause problems. However, I have mine removed and never had any issues Idont think.

You could always just try and plug it in. That wont hurt anything.
