Default Where to get replacement amp for 2001 Monte Carlo SS?

Currently the amp in my dads 2001 Monte Carlo SS is bad so he took out the amp but wants to buy another one to put in. He has been driving around for like 2 years without one so he can't listen to the radio. He said he had found some for like $300 I think it was. I thought that was steep for a stock replacement. Anyone know where to get one for much less?

I will sell you mine from my 00' LS for $30 + shipping, or you could get a bypass harness for the amp, OR you could get a wiring diagram and splice the wires yourself and you wouldn't need the amp to listen to the radio

I thought he could just splice things together but he wants it to be the way it was stock. Its just the way he is. I may take you up on your offer. Where are you at?
