Default Volume based equalizer on 2000 MC

Does the 2000 Monte Carlo SS have volume based equalizer where at higher volumes the HU automatically lowers the bass but increases the bass at lower volumes to so called protect the speakers? I know alot of newer cars have it and I need to know if the 2000 MC has it.

You got it! Well pretty close, GM's newer factory stereos have built in EQ levels that can't be tweeked much and they do change depending on volume. I did not discover this untill I installed my subs. So for now it sounds just OK I am missing some low frequencies that the stereo cuts out at higher volume. Here is a link for JL audio that will explain it in greater depth, of course they have a product called the Clean Sweep that solves the problem:

I was afraid of that. Maybe the Epicenter will help when I get it installed.
