Default Trunk Popper with keyless entry

I recently installed a viper 5701 alarm/remote start and I've had success with everything except the trunk popper. I bought myself a relay from autozone and proceeded to hook it up to the trunk popper. I've wired it correctly because if I cross two poles on the relay I can get the trunk to pop. However, I can't get this to work with the output from the remote starter. The output wire is supposed to hook up to one of the poles on the relay (the switching source). When I do this nothing happens. So I got out my multimeter and checked what is happening at the end of the output wire. When I push on the remote for trunk, I get a reading of .6 mAh and .7 Volts coming out of the wire. Obviously that's not going to do anything in switching my relay. I also tried using AUX 1 on the unit for an output but I got the same results. I'm out of ideas any help?

Also, does anyone know where the fuse for the trunk popper button is? That doesn't work either so I figured it was a fuse and I can't seem to locate it.

I recently put a remote start/keyless entry system on my wife's '05 Impala. I did not require a relay for the trunk pop. I spliced the trunk pop triger wire from the remote module to one of the two wires on the trunk pop button under the dash.

The one "gotcha" on our Impala was there is a black and a black/white wire. The insturctions I was using had me using the wrong wire to tap into. Once I switched to the correct wire, the trunk pop worked perfectly.

I'm not sure how much that info helps with your Monte, but you may wanna remove the relay and route the trunk pop line from the module to where your trunk pop button is and find out which lead you need from that button.

Yes. Did you miss the part where I said I can manually trip the relay and therefore pop the trunk myself? This is my current way of opening the trunk.
