Subwoofers and In Dash
Ok so i bought 2 10's (used) around November of 2011. They work pretty good and bought a legacy in dash. I have it powered on a 4,000 watt class D amp by Power Acoustic. I never got a chance to get a amp for my highs so I just had the bass for the time being. Sometime last month I noticed when i cut my subs on I smelled a burning smell coming from my trunk. I so happened to look back and i saw smoke so i stopped and pulled over. I opened the trunk and i saw where my speaker wires began to melt. I checked the speakers and they are still good. About two days later i noticed that i wasn't getting any sound from the in-dash so i unplugged it and checked all my fuses, they were good. I plugged it back in and still no sound but the face still lit up and all the equalizers were working properly.
I unhooked it and plugged my factory radio back in and wala i have sound.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this situation? Does this sound like my in-dash went out? If so can it be repaired? If not what is the best recommended in-dash for music?
