Will check that. And yes the car had the original radio in it, which is why this whole thing is confusing to me

So when it comes to looking for a bad wire, where is the most common place? I'm gonna pull the radio check all behind there today. Don't know where to go from there

I would think if it would come to a bad wire, it would be directly behind the radio because those are the wires that would normally move.

I pulled the headunit yesterday, all wires seemed perfectly normal. All wires going to speakers in truck also seemed normal. Where else should I look now? I'm so lost with this problem

As far as checking power to the amp, which wire is that? There are like 10 different colored ones.

This also, might sound like a dumb question, but are there any other fuses to check besides the radio one? The one for the radio appears to be the fuse for the amp as well

Yes there are. Check the fuses in the front distribution panel under the hood passenger side. In fact, obtain some dielectric grease from auto parts and remove and replace every one, greasing the new ones. After X number of years they oxidize at the contacts and components don't have the juice what they need. Chevy had a bulletin on ground wires. Locate every ground connection the car and unscrew it then grease it then re screw it. You will not thank me now but you'll know about it later either way.

follow the harness under the carpet on the pass side of the car. it runs through beside the rear footwell. A lot of times it lays in standing water under the carpet and corrodes the wires. also follow the wires as they run up the seat back and into the trunk, they sometimes chaffe and short on the sheetmetal.
