Default speakers

I was wondering what the very best speakers would be to replace the factory speakers in my 2007 SS Monte Carlo. Thanks.

Hi Aaron,I would suggest doing a Google's Search for more information on Speaker's.I think there are many out there, but it's really ends up to bea personal choice.Sure hope that you post some pictures of your07 SS, & give us your review on it....(You are one of the lucky ones to get the lastyear SS : )http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/series/sr/

Just make sure that they're the same ohms. Call crutchfield, they should be able to tell you what ohms you need and what speakers are best for what ur wanting. They'll even sell it to you. They may be more expensive than some other places, but you can't beat their lifetime tech support of the product and very knowledgable staffing.

Stock speakers are 2ohm. Most off the shelf speakers are 4 ohm. 4ohm will work no problem. The front doors have 6.5's and the rear deck has 6x9's. Its the speaker that creates the ohm rating not the amp so 2 ohm to 8 ohm speakers will work as long as they fit the door/rear deck. I will hopefully be installing my Alpine Type X componets in my doors. If I can get to it tonight I will take some pics for ya so you can see what is in the door. I will running my componets off my stock deck for now, once next yr comes you will see a nice clean stereo in this car I have.

There is also tweeters in the doors, about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" speakers. Put in a good set of 6 1/2" 4-ways in the doors, and 6x9 3-ways in the rear and you'll be happy. I got Pioneers. I thot the factory system blew chunks! Replaced it all but the tweeters.

Well, I will have to say, definetley buy 2 ohm speakers, unless you want to wire them in series with 4 ohm seakers to drop it to a 2 ohm load, then you will have to wire the left speaker to the right, or vise versa. You will not have the same sound then. If you buy 4 ohm, and wire it up directly to each side of the car, it will be half as loud as having 2ohm. Infinity is almost always 2ohms, and is a great brand at a affordable price.I would suggest them, unless you want to send alot of monty and go for BOSE. Are you using the stock head unit and amp, or are you replacing everything?

If you wanted to go with 4 ohm speakers, you could connect a 4 ohm resistor in parallel with the speaker terminals. This will drop the resistance down to 2 ohms as far as the system is concerned.
Personally, I'd just get 2ohm speakers and make it easier.

I would stay away from the BOSE. They are WAY over rated, and you can get better for cheaper. I would recommend rainbow component speakers, focal, JBL, MB quart, Cerwin Vega, and CDT. Are you planning on installing a new head unit or amps? If so, I would recomment Pioneer or Alpine decks, and for Amps... Orion, JBL\Crown, Kicker, Hifonics, Sundown, and memphis. Subs... JBL WXX*Gti MKII, Digital designes, Audioque, IDQ, MTX. Stay away from sh*t brands like sony, jensen, dual, etc.

* XX denotes either 10 12 or 15 depending on size

I couldn't agree more with soyo if your willing to spend the money. Bose stuff is junk compared to quality aftermarket stuff, and he hit the nail on the head about the $h1t brands. Sony, Jensen, Dual, Pyle, Audiobahn, and some more are not even worth buying.

Go with a decent set of components up front, and match the brand in the back.Polk's are very reasonable and sound good, and for the price my Phoenix gold RSD's are amazing. Alpine and JBLalso make some very good mid-level component sets.
