Default Replacing 04 amo with 00/01 amp possible??

Ok I found this great website the other day. You people are awesome! I wish I woulda found it a long time ago. I have had the same problem as many with my amp in my 2004 ls monte and have been without sound for over a year. I was going to get the same amp to replace it and see if it fixed it but could only find the previous model amp at the junk yard out of a 2000SS. Its the same size and has the same out plug, but the in plug is different. The one I am going to use only has a black wire and an orange wire. But there is no orange wire in the previous wire set. I am trying to see if I can use the old amp if I can get it hooked up right. So I guess I should keep the question simple because I am not good with radio/amp/wiring lingo. Is it possible to replace the original 04 amp with the 00/01 amps without a whole bunch of mess that I wont know how to do?? Thank you guys so much, I will probably be paying 200-300 to have someone do it if I cant get it figured out soon.

I think they are different. I remember getting an 04 amp for my 2000 and it not working.

Easiest thing you can do
