Default Rear Speaking Mounting

I am attempting to add rear speakers to my '79 Monte which came from the factory with only a single front speaker. I bought the correct 4x10" size speakers, but there are no mounting holes or anything like that. Do I just need to start drilling, or is there a bracket of some sort that I'm missing. There are a couple tabs sticking down from the underneath of the rear deck that look like they serve a purpose, but I cant really see any easy way to attach the speaker to them Maybe someone could post a pic of the inside of their trunk of a '78-87 G body that has factory rear speakers installed?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

i dont know exactly about this car but i know alot about speaker mounting. check inside the trunk and see if there are screw holes inside going up. if there are no holes just make your own, its very easy.

making new holes is easy enough, but i didnt really want to put holes up through the rear deck. It will be difficult to put the drill through the metal and stop before pushing through surface of the deck in the passenger compartment.

Are there holes for the speakers themselves, just no screw holes? You'll probably have to remove the rear deck trim anyway because it'll likely be easier/best to mount the speakers on top of the sheet metal back there instead of below in the trunk.

no no no what im saying is if you cant see any visible screws see if you can see exsisting holes from inside the trunk. They might be hidden on the top part so it looks good cosmetically. If you do have to drill start from the cab into the trunk

Take the rear deck trim off, like dbl said, and mount them from the top. The deck trim may need to be refurbish due to sun damage anyway so it would be a good time to fix it, if needed.
