rear speakers bad
After blasting some music i have noticed my rear speakers rattle alot (guessing theyre blown) they arent as loud as they used to be. As i looked at them they are factory of course and look like 6x9's? I dont wanna get aftermarket speakers because i dont wanna mess with the amp and mounting brackets that are already in. Where do i find the factory speakers or speakers that will mount and work with the factory amp. Just curious what some of you have done or how much they cost and stuff like that. thanks!

I looked it up and there are two different speakers for that year. GM #10324027 Lists for $92.94 each & GM#10373234 List for $72.04 each. The differene according to the catalog is that the first number is the Enhanced SPKR SYS and the second is a Six SPKR SYS.

Some members may have them for sale from their stereo upgrades. And then junk yards are a good source for the budget minded.
And this company sells all kinds of Monte parts. This link has Impala speakers which are the same as Monte speakers. He has other Monte parts listed too..... Look over his eBay store..... or go to his web site linked below.

I went through a similiar situation with my '02 Grand Am that has the factory Monsoon setup. I had ZERO interest in messing with the factory sound system (except it has a factory MP3 CD player in it now)..... The problem was the foam surround on the cone was all dry rotted (crumbled when you touched it). I was looking into buying the DIY replacement surrounds for about $20 total. The process to repair this issue appears super easy (peel the old surround off and glue the new ones on).
Before I got to that, my brother-in-law handed me a set of Rockford Fostgate 2 way 6x9s. Made a smaller wiring change so they operate like factory speakers (the tweets and woofers on the speakers are independantly controlled by the factory Monsoon amp). Turned out good for me!
But if you want to go CHEAP, inspect the speaker and perhaps you can just replace the surround.

I replaced mine with Infinity 693.9i speakers and quite happy with the way they sound.
My original 6x9 are boxed up and stashed away in storage. If you want to put OE speakers back in I'll sell these to you for $50 shipped priority mail. Just let me know if you're interested...

When i get it out of storage this May i will take a look at them and see whats wrong. I will probably do some junkyard searching here soon since there are some big ones by the college that I attend that I have yet to visit. If i cant find anything I will try and get some new ones but maybe not since my subs im putting in i prolly wont hear them anyways but who knows. Thanks for the help guys. I will definitely hit some of you guys up if I do decide to get some better factory speakers
