Putting in a new stereo
yeah ive heard of those, but there spotty at best, ive only heard 1 or 2 people with the problem, you should be fine, the problems are minor, things like car not beeping when you unlock it or flahsing lights, little things, but thats due mostly because your removing the deck, and the cars computer somtimes forgets, but the deck never does. sometimes ive heard of it loosing your tire pressure settings, or even your oil settings, but you can reset those manual, i forget the sequences. but those kinda things your machanic will know how to reset if a light comes on, genraly my machanic does that kinda **** for free to keep me coming back ;P but my machanic is a personal family friend. so not always the same with everyone, some people use pep boys and that **** :P
Alright so here's what happened.
I installed the radio myself, it was fairly easy, but as soon as I went to turn it on, it would turn right back off again. I checked all the wiring, made sure I didn't mess anything up, and couldn't figure out what was wrong.
So then I found a mobile installer that was supposed to come to my house, he called 10 minutes beforehand and rescheduled for the next day. The next day, he doesn't even show up because he "forgot."
So then I take it to a shop. Leave my car there all day while I'm at work. They claim they can fix the problem. I come to pick my car up, and the radio's not in. The guy nonchalantly says "Oh, it needs special wiring to the fuse box. Our installer knows how to do it but doesn't want to be liable for it." Basically saying, oh well too bad, go somewhere else.
So I'm extremely mad and tired of dealing with this.
Does this make any sense to anyone?

Exactly why I refuse to let a shop touch my car as long as i'm physically able to do it myself! That's a bunch of bs! There is no "special wiring" that they need to do.
Do you have a volt meter? I can walk you though some things you should check on the back of the deck to determine if it's a wiring issue.
