Very small screwdriver on the underside of the button, there's a tiny spot to depress and pull the button out.

Just don't lose the spring

Looks great and I agree; subtle change that makes a huge improvement to both looks and feel.

I replaced my 06's factory shift **** with the 2012 Impala leather wrapped shift **** (same exact style, just leather wrapped) and I love it.

How did you do this? My **** broke off my 01 monte carlo, where the **** itself and the plastic connect. so now I'm currently stuck pushing the button in (that's under the ****) to change gears... :/

For kaybeth1991 there is a u pin in the front bottom part of the shift **** that you have to pull out. You can use a pair of needle nose pliers or something thin to pull it out. Once you do that it will come right off.

Then for claydoh, I just used a cleaning wipe that is used to clean other interior parts and then after you have used it for a while it will become even cleaner looking. But the wipes took care of most of the crap that was on mine. Mine was from a junk yard and they tend to get dirty being there.
