Actually, those are the old Rainbow DreamLine tweeters I had, this is the new pic of my current tweeter setup. Same location, but angle mounted towards opposite passenger vs. flush mounted

esteticly those would of looked better a bit higher, but they look alright i guess one could easily get used to it, i dont like external tweeters, i prefer them in the kick panel, and it was one of the very large selling points of this car to me as i already had a system in my old car im in the middle of transfering.

this build is good though, helped me find alot of stuff, just found that rubber gasket today thanks to your images, i will be running a power line soon, i still need extra lengths of wire for final connections, and stuff like that. i need to ground my chasy better like you did, as i am running 1\0 cable. it's gonna be fun to say the least, i already have my stereo harness wired up, and mounted with the chime box in the dash but since the head unit i have is a dead head i have to wait till i have eveyrhting wired before i put it in as it wont send a signal to the stock amp, whitch is a rather larger bummer i should of wired it to the rca's instead of cutting them off the unit, but oh well.

i am curiouse, as to how your speakers didn't fit, that's quite perplexing to me, as i just toor a panel off 20 mins ago just for a test fit of my speakers, and i found they fit my jbl c608gti mkii's with out a hitch, and the woofers on these are downright massive, it looks like in your image you just needed to large hole since the engine mounting on the speaker was wider at the base than a standard speaker, i would of just bore that out. :\

i'm in the middle of ordering that dash kit, i wanted to ask you if it comes with brackets needed to mount the deck or just the cover plate for the dash?

i have been thinking about this grounding thing.

it feels to me runing a ground to the motor to the battery and to the chasy feels redudant, since the engine is very hevily mounted to the frame of the car, what is the point of running the extra line to the chasy? i know you must to the engine since the alternator uses its bolting as the ground, but the engine is bolted down. why did you run 2 lines?

Good questions eviling!

Thanks for the kind words, and conductive criticism. I agree that they would look better elsewhere but I was kinda stuck putting them there since that's where I had my previous tweets when I didn't have the ability to tweak the time alignment. It was either put them there/have holes in my door panels/buy new door panels. I chose the path of least resistance

The basket on my CDT's were huge, I didn't have a dremel so I just did it the way I did. But it's no longer like that now that I've upgraded to PPI 356's, they fit right in like a glove.

The flush mount deck plates comes with everything you're gonna need to install it, except for the connectors you're gonna need to run the led's. No instructions were included with mine but it's pretty straight forward and self explanatory.

I have no explanation for doing the Big 3 other than it's something alot of people do, some with better results than others, I happened to have gotten good results from doing it. I'm sure the person who's ideal it was to do this in the first place knows/knew way more than me about this kind of stuff so I don't question it. If it works, cool, if not, no worries.

ahh, well the LED's seem stright forward to me. just hook the ground to a ground, metal in the bracket area or a ground wire, and connect the pos to the ignition pos or the remote relay that the chime kit comes with, whitch is basicly the same thing since that relays turned on by the ignition postative lead

the redudtant grounding is pretty useless on a car like a monte if my opinion. i don't believe i'm doing it, i think the brackets should ground the chasy enough. but i need another 300$ for a bat + a more powerful alt, i saw a 1995 monte alt for like 185$ with 210 amps, that would be nice if i could fabricate it to my car, have to look more into it. what did you do when you upgraded your system? you just upgraded the wires or did you upgrade the alt as well?

You're entitled to your opinion, but I will say this....my voltage increased by .4v by doing this mod. Sounds like nothing but that can translate to a pretty nice difference in power output from the amp. If the brackets were enough to ground the chassis then why do you think Chevy would install these "redundant" grounds? You seem to know more than them so do your thing man.

I just upgraded the wires, don't have an additional battery or h/o alt. I might get a h/o alt sometime in the future but it's not high on my list of things to do.

you missunderstand my intentions, i mean no disrespect, just conversing on the topic because i was on the fence my self about it. but i did put a ground to the chasy to make sure there was a solid connection. i also have 2 ground lines going to my distriution block to ensure there is no problems, because i've seen some things go bad in systems in the past :| so i'm pretty **** about grounding, allot problems that happen in systems revolve around ground issues.

No, didn't misunderstand as my response was based on your comments of the Big 3 being "redundant" and "useless". I don't feel disrespected at all man, we don't have to agree about everything.

Those problems you spoke of were they involving the car turning off hilr your at low idle? I'm pretty sure my batteries just low but I wanted to check with you because you said you had some issues
