Overall Audio
Ok guys so ive seen so many threads about head units, 6x9's, subs and everything in between. I have a 07 ss and am currently in the market of getting a new head unit, new 6x9's(2), new 6.5's(2), and some subs and amps, so i decided to make a thread covering all aspects. What im asking is what should i get.....looking for QUALITY.......im very picky. I was thinking of the new kenwood double din 7" or the pioneer. With the JL 13.5 and kicker 6x9's. But idk if the JL is worth all the money? Should i just go with 2 or 3 12's or 15's for the same price?
All input appreciated
thanx

JL Audio is good stuff, IMO overpriced but still quality stuff. But even more important than the name on the stuff you get is the quality of the install. You could have the best of the best but if your installer doesn't know what he's doing then the guy who spent 1/4 of what you spent on the goods but had an installer who knew what he was doing will outshine you easily.
do not go with 3 12's thats obserd for a basic system unless you really like your thump or their low wattage high quality subs, clarly not that situation.
I'd say you have some good gear picked, the rears realy dont matter but those kickers will sound good for rear fill, ive always liked them because they dont really lean towards bright, and they don't lean on the lows either, their just in the middle, which is good for fill, and any speaker in general.
the JL's will make you happy but if you want some other options, loook into the JBL w10gti mkii, or the `12 gti mkii. their great subs i love them! and can be had around 200$ - 300$ depending if you get the 10 or the 12. in fact somebody over at diyma has a w10gti mkI, not the mkii for sale for 100$ , i'd look into that. great deal, for a great sub.
JBL GTi W10 $100 - DIYMA.com
for amps, i'd say the usial, alpine, polk, pioneer, what ever have ya, i perosnaly use JBL, and alpine gear allot.
for your doors, make sure you go with compoenent, as thats what this car has stock and its pretty easy to jigger rig something up, for the set i used to have i jsut cut a hole where the stock one is and passed the bracket through, but their are endless types of brackets.
since your leaning towrds kicker, something like this might work for ya
Kicker QS65.2 (09QS65.2) 6.5" QS-Series Component Car Speakers
never buy cheap on your front stage, its the life blood of your stage.
for a deck, thats fine, anything really works, you can pick up the pioneer avic x-930bt on the real cheap right now, they just released the 930 and the 130 for the z serries, so the 920 and 120 are on the cheap right now. the 920 is a great deck, fully featured.
I'd also recommend the new sony line, i like em, i have their top teir unit. I do like it but it lacks allot in the ipod area, you might not like the UI but its a great unit, extertnal GPS modual so you can take it with you for updates and such, i just updated mine this weekend, they release small updates once or twice a month and 4 major updates every quarter. its free for the first year, its from tom tom.
the kenwood decks are nice they use garmin, but their UI is also lacking, pioneer is going to be the most user friendly UI.
