I would say if you have 4 gauge do it for all of it.

Really? The guy at best buy ( i mever buy from them but they usually have what i like and i like to see things in person so i go to just look) told me that all distribution blocks do is your job of splicing the wires together and not bother. He said to just cut the power cable at the trunk and then splice 2 equal length pieces of it to it and then to the amps. I don't agree because for 1, it'll be a messy install. And 2, just isn't safe. But what he did mention which I think sounds true is that if I have a 4 gauge power cable going from the battery to a distro block, that 8 gauge to both amps is sufficient. He said I'm running a max of 800 watts rms and 8 gauge handles up to a 1000 withought problem. But if that was the case, and I had 8 gauge from the 4 gauge to each amp, will each ground be 8 or 4? And can I ground them at the same bolt or do I have to bolt them in different spaces? Or do I need a ground distributor?

Also, would 0 gauge be overkill for about 800rms? Have a 0 go to a distro then to two 4 gauges? Or should I just do a 4 and split it at the distro into 4's?

Yes really. I'm not too concerned with what the guy at Best Buy said, finding a good installer there is like finding Waldo. I've told you, as did Nova, what you should do, it's up to you if you want to heed our advice or not.

One thing I will add though is that the size of your power wire is partially determined by the length you need. Did the guy at Best Buy bother to ask you how long your run is? Didn't think so. Let's just say you are running 800rms grand total, if your run is 16ft long, you'd need 2ga. wire. So that's the first thing you should do, figure out how long your power wire run is and then check this chart to figure out what the proper size wire should be.

Recommended Power and Ground Cable Sizes

Also, unless you're using a wire that ensures you have plenty of headroom I wouldn't step down on the runs to the amps. Like 4ga. for example, with the length of your run you're already pushing it, then to step down to 8ga. wouldn't be a good idea. But if you want to do 2ga. to 4ga., that would be fine, and would be my suggestion. And whatever size wire used for your main power wire is the size you need to use for your grounds.

Ok thanks. I'll measure the cables I have now and see how long I need. I have a friend who offered to sell me a capacitor ffor cheap. Are they worth it?

My lights don't dim or anything when the subs hit. I have a spare 8 gauge amp kit from a while ago. Would it be fine if I were to just use that for my 2 channel amp until I upgrade all the wiring? That means having 2 power chords and 2 grounds and rcas and such. Can they both be grounded at same location or different parts? Thank you again.

Caps are worthless
8ga. for that amp would be fine
You can ground both amps to the same spot
You can have as many power wires running next to each other as you want
Ditch that RF amp kit
That Knu wire is legit
