Default Need immediate help, please.

I just got my 2002 Monte Carlo SS on Saturday. I have been driving and have been pretty pleased with the car. There is a Sony head unit installed - I still have door chimes, fuel warnings, etc. but do not know for sure what wiring harness its using.

Here is my problem(s);

-The cruise light stays on when its dark outside, and flickers on and off during the day while I drive. The cruise buttons on the wheel are nonresponsive.

-The homelink panel (I assume this is what its called) that allows me to look at mpg, range, etc. works great during the day, but at night it doesn't turn on! Up until tonight it would turn on after the car had been on for a few minutes. Tonight, nothing at all!

-I've also noticed that the mirror (onstar buttons are here) has a multitude of functionality. The green light on the rear view mirror (left side) usually turned on when I ran the car. Tonight nothing at all.

I want to take care of these issues asap and the dealer is detailing my car Monday, so if they need to do anything I would like to get it taken care of then.

Are all of these issues tied into the factory head unit being gone? If so I will install it in my trunk asap. I just need to know where I stand and what is wrong with everything in the car. These are really the only defects I have found thus far.

Please, help. All input is appreciated. I am a novice to this car, so the more detailed explanation you can give the better.

Hi `William,
Sorry to read that you are having problems with your Monte [X(]
Did you buy your Monte on Saturday `as is ? or did
you get any warranty coverage ?
To me it sounds like you have a short somewhere, and most
likely the removal of the factory radio, & it`sreplacement.
Please be patience, and I`m sure a member that has knowledge/experience with this problem with post.
You may want to use the MCF Search Engine to explore
for similar type problems to give you some idea on where
the problem could be.
You may have to take it to a local Audio Shop that has
done installs on the Monte Carlo.
Do you know the history on your Monte Carlo ?
Previous owner/etc.
Wish you Good Luck on solving the problem.

well pretty much everything electronic on the inside or ur car is ran through ur stock radio...it prolly wouldnt hurt to install the radio in your trunk...if it doesnt fix the problem then take it out and try again

there are "t" harnesses that allow your factory radio to be mounted in the trunk and the sone HU to be mounted in the front, this allows the stereo to control the data and BCM, and the sony deck the music.

it sounds to me you have a ambeiant light sensor bad. and it is thinking it is dark out side and there fore your lights are not gettign brighter or darker for day/night on the D.I.C. or dash etc... (home link is also know as the D.I.C.)

The stereo has nothign to do with weather the lights int he car work properly that would be in either the ECM or the other controll unit up behind the brake pedal (I cat remeber it's name at this point)

The stock stereo can be taken out of the car completly and it will still function normally in day/night unless that sensor is not workign properly or you have a bad switch for the lights.

pepole give the stereo way to much credit for the stereo in the montes carlos for "contorlling the car"

they didnt name them H.A.L.E. LMAO!!!

Headlights and dash lights function perfectly whether it is day or night - my lights still come on at night and go off during the day (except the daytime runners). Its that the Cruise light is staying on and the Homelink is not coming on at all... Ideas? Anything?
