i swear this thang hates me...i love my car but its gettin ridiculous

so a while ago i replaced my stock radio and used the metra wiring harness to keep my chimes...this was also supposed to have an adjustment to control the watts out so there is no distortion...well i couldnt get that to work so i decided to jsut bypass the stock amp...so i got the diagram and just connected the wires 2gether and no more horrible distortion! which i liked so i went to turn up the radio to c if there was distortion on higher volumes and the damn thing cut out, so i went from distortion to no sound at high volumes...any ideas? anyone? im thinking about jsut forgetting my 10+ hours of work and the $250 and just puttin the stock stereo back in

sounds to me like you used too small of a guage of wire or something is touching or the radio is bad, could be wrong tho

 

well i didnt use any wires...i just cut the wires and used connectors to just hook the amp inputto the ampoutput and that was that so i didnt use any wires and i taped up the connection which leaves mewith a bad radio...hmm thanx

 

when i reinstalled the radio in my dads car when i turned it up it would kick off it ended up being a bad wire from the store. could be a messed up connector or the tape isnt on properly, recheck all of your connections, ill shoot this prob to a stereo bud of mine and get his input


what radio did u buy

 

i bought a kenwood and after i bought it got some bad input from everyone about them...shoulda did a lil research and thanx for the help

 

kenwoods are good if you get the high end model, the low ends are riddled with problems. maybe where u bought it from can test it and your system to figure out whats goin on

 

lol i bought it from best buy so they prolly wont do **** for me lol altho u never know

 

bestbuy has that installation thing so im sure they will help u just make sure you have the recepit or they will laugh at you. dont they have the geek squad or something for stereo installers??
