In theory I would say the carpet should be interchangeable, as the 06-07 Monte was the mid-generation restyle from GM and certain key elements of the 06-07 seem identical to 00-05. I'm not sure anyone has actually tested swapping the carpet.

I did a Google search to see if companies sold the OEM carpet or molded carpet that is claimed to fit like factory. I found this link:
Chevy Monte Carlo Carpet Molded Interior Replacement Kit

They have different item numbers for 00-05 and 06-07. Not sure why, if the pics are of the actual carpets, they look near identical (differences might be lighting). It's possible the differences may not matter in the grand scheme of things.

I also found the same issue here:
Molded Chevy Monte Carlo Carpet--Correct Molded Fit

Unfortunately, that is not a definite answer, but perhaps you can contact those companies and maybe get some specifics on the differences.

I'm pretty sure it's because the center console differences and there is also some minor differences in the firewall as well.

Honestly, I doubt they would fit, because the interior for 2006 was redesigned. If you are looking for a perfect fit ones for your sixth generation Chevy, check out this quality All-Weather Floor Mats set made by WeatherTech: http://www.carid.com/2006-chevy-mont...-64344519.html
