Default Looking to get a Type X

Ok so i just sold my type r on friday and put my old insignia 12's into the car. They are way to big and i miss having my trunk space so im looking to get a single Type X. Already have a deal with someone that its coming in a box and with a 500 watt amp. Its the swx 1043d. Anyways my concern is im going to need 1000-1500 watt amp to power it properly but just wondering if my stock Alt can handle it? What do you guys think and any reviews of the Type x?

Im a big fan of anything by alpine! I have owned many of their products and i have never been dissappointed with the quality they provide.. I for one have never had a TYPE x but i have had many TYPE Rs and TYPE S subs and loved them. As far as power i got to about 2000 rms on subs at .5ohm, and 500 on mids and highs before my lights started dimming. If you only have a 1500 true power amp, You will be fine. If you have a mids and highs amp as well and your lights dim a little add a second battery and you will have no problems!

I have two Type X 12's in my monte! I love them! Each one has a Alpine PDX 600.1 amp. They sound amazing! I have a tsunami 20 farad cap that doesn't draw much at all. I can have them turned up really loud and not have my lights dim or anything. I am planning on getting either one larger amp or two larger ones, but I already rattled my sunroof off its track with my RF t2's, so I might just stick with the 600 each.

If you go with a single Type-x in a ported box you'll end up taking up the whole trunk anyways, just like with the Type-r's... provided you put them in a proper box.

I could get my monte to dim real bad with my kx 1200.1, i have no idea how you guys dont dim with 1500w amps. Im sure alpine type X's are decent but they are much better subs out their then Alpine and your other name brands.

I agree there are "competition" type subs that are better than Alpine, RF, Kicker, etc. But He's looking to put one really nice sub in his car. If your set up is done right your lights won't dim. Having another battery, high output alt., or a cap are some of the ways to go when you don't want your lights to dim. The only time my lights have dimmed on the monte I had a 2f cap and two RF T2 15" subs in a ported box with a RF 3000 watt amp, but if I would have had another battery or a bigger cap, etc it wouldn't have.

Okay so i got a few choices. I can either go for a Sony XM D9001gtr for 160. Puts out 900 watts RMS at 2 ohms so its right under the 1000 rms for the sub. Or the Clarion dpx11500 which puts out 1500 rms and i can get it for 150. Or an Alpine MRP 1000 that will put 1000 RMS but thing is its 3 years old and i can get it for 190. What do you guys think?

If you can go with the Alpine.

If you want trunk space and sound look at a JL 13W, made for a small sealed enclosure & not overly power hungry. I have one with a Memphis amp @ 500rms, plenty loud, deep and quality sound.
