Default JL Audio Clean Sweep (Factory amp bypass needed???)

I am planning on installing a JL audio Clean Sweep in my Monte. I have been reading about the factory amp bypass. It is still not clear to me when it is needed or if it is needed at all. I am going to keep the factory radio in my car. I have aftermarket interiors and 1 12 inch sub. I am going to use a 4 channel amp to power the interiors and a 1 channel mono amp to power the sub. With this set up will a bypass be needed? To me it makes sense to bypass the amp because I will have another to replace it. Any help will be appriciated. Thanks!

i looked into it before, i was told i would need to buy a bypass/conector for about 130 bucks. i too wonted to keep the old amp and just add two 12,s. also somehow without the bypass it would affect the onstar and the message center ?!

The factory amp can be bypassed with a $10 bypass jumper.

Or you can find the how to online and do it yourself for free

Is this what you are talking about?...http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...a+70-2021.html

I have a 2004 and this is for a 00-01. Its says that it "Allows for the installation of an aftermarket radio using the existing factory wiring and connectors" I'm not installing a aftermarket radio, just the JL Clean Sweep. Will this do the job?

That is the one I was talking about......I has seen a how-to online but after looking at it again I realize it didn't specify what years Impalas/Monte Carlos that bypass worked on. I stand corrected.

After looking into it more, you have infact found the correct bypass harness!
