Default And I thought I was the resident audio guru

I was sitting here planning out my system so I can start working on it piece by piece, and just when I thought I was done........I want something different than anything I've had in the past as far as my sub setup goes. Specifically, when I pop the trunk, I want to be able to see the basket/magnet of the sub instead of the cone. I've had bandpass boxes/sealed boxes/ported boxes, and in every one, the sub was installed normally with the cone visible. I have figured that I'm gonna keep the box I currently have, it's a nice box, it's ported, perfect size, but can I simply invert the subs and be good to go? Is there any reason that's not such a good idea as far as SQ or bass response go? Cause if I can do that, I'll just anchor the box to the trunk floor and then build a false wall so when you open the trunk all you see is the back of the subs sticking out of the false wall.

i have seen it done before that way so i would think you could do it.

Also if you have time to do it go look at the Boston acustics web page for car audio they have a 02 SS poace car they did as a demo car thsi is kind of the set up tha ti will eventually have but he dont have a box at all they are the free airs in it. Looks nice and you still have a trunk

I have found out that it can be done w/o any side effects, the only thing to keep in mind is the increase in internal volume due to the basket and magnet not taking up space. But those gains are minimal at best. I have found the subs that will work with my current box, now I just hope I can see this system to completion.

No doubt, my Image Dynamics IDQ 12's are gonna fit nicely in my current box and are gonna slam! I'm gonna push them with an Ample Audio A242X amp that put's out 600 watts rms x1 at 4ohms bridged.
