k the wiring harness is a metra one and i bought it from best buy...it basically takes the 24 pin and turns it into a 14 pin, and the three wires are all wired seperatly of each other andi work 2nite otherwise id get some pics...we will c if i can get some 2moro, i think im headed to a audio place called ransoms to c if they can tell me what to do, cuz im dumbfounded

yep... the only thing I can think of would be possible is the adapter could be bad. also, that might be true for having such a "unique" adapter. it sounds like its doing a lot more wiring than you need to be doing... possibly causing the problem.

ok i hope you read this before you go to work kweef, but i believe your problem is with the harness. i have heard of this happening it is a rare problem. but i have found that it is more common with that type of harness. does your new HU require a max of 14 pins? if not then i would use a 24 to 24 pin adapter. but some HU do use less pins. i would double check to see if you wired up the harness wires correctly. double check the factory wire colors, and the aftermarket wire colors. another thing you could try is double check all of your fuses in the fuse box. if one is shorting out or not in all the way the electricity might be arcing to another causing your troubles.

oh and my new hu i believe has 14 pins altho i only use the three for 12v, ignition, and ground...i can hook up the dimmer switch but it actually works backwards and only when i turn the lights on manually, it its the sensor that turns on the lights it doesnt work at all
