Default Head Unit help......

I have a 2003 MC SS with onstar i purchased a new single din head unit. I also purchased the installation kit and antenna adapter and the wiring harness. I am aware that i will loose all the chimes by replacing the factory sereo unless i purchase the adaptor which i dont plan in doing, i can live without the chimes. I got to the point where i connected the wiring harness the stereo turns on and operates properly the only thing is that i am getting no sounds from my speakers. I connected all the wires according to the metra harness wiring diagram i no for sure that my ground, constant 12v, and my accessories wire are connected properly. I have come to the conslusion that there is the possibilityi was given the wrong wiring harness maybe one for a MC not equipped with On Star. Or there is that good possibility that i am doing it completely wrong. So i have to mess with the factory amplifier which i have no idea where its located. Please help.

Default RE: Head Unit help......

not a problem man.... one thing I can recommend is TAKE SOME PICS! pics will help us see your problem and make our responses a little bit... "smarter". Ill try to look around for some info on the speaker problem, but if your trying to bypass the amp in the back, that would make it not put audio to them if your doing it wrong. as for the amp, if you have an onboard amp (some do and some dont... it depends on what model and if you have certain car speakers) it would be located in the truck on the roof of the rear bay. Its going to be sitting between your two rear 6x9's facing downward. if you have any problems finding it, lemme know and Ill take a picture of mine after I pull my subs out!
