Good Aftermarket rear speakers
Your're right, I didn't see that link. That would definitely work, but I can't see spending $16+ (for rear speakers only) on those adapters when solderless terminals are less expensive.
About the speaker harness if you order your speakers from cruthfield.com than they send your the speaker harness for your car at no additional charge and they also send step by step instructions on how to remove your head unit and every speaker in your vehicle its something that most of us already know how to do but the concept of them putting that stuff in the box shows their excellent level of customer service, just something to ponder.

I am installing JL Audio C2-690TX tomorrow along with JL C5-525 components in the doors. Do you have the Bose and Onstar package on your 05? These speakers coming out of 04 in good shape, let me know if you have any interest in direct replacement speakers way below dealer price.

I beg to differ.

I'm still running the factory amp and installed a pair of Infinity Kappa 693.9i in the rear deck. They are a lot cleaner and crisper sounding (not as muddy) compared to the factory speakers with excellent bass response for a 6x9.
On a side note: I know a lot of people say that aftermarket speakers sound like crap and aren't as loud with the factory amp, but I think that has a lot to do with improper wiring. When I first installed my speakers they did sound terrible - very little output with hardly any bass response. When I double checked my wiring I found that I had one speaker wired correctly and one wired backwards. Once both speakers were properly wired they came to life and sound great. I'm running them with the -3dB activated and the fader 1 click off center position towards the rear. Whatever speakers you decide on just make sure you wire them correctly:
Tan = Left Rear +
White = Left Rear -
Brown = Right +
Yellow or Red = Right -

You will need to cut the speaker wires and install terminals on them to connect to your aftermarket speakers. If you're going to keep the factory amp just get some 2 ohm speakers with high sensitivity, wire them correctly and you shoud be fine. That is another reason people experience poor performance - they install 4 or 8 ohm speakers in place of the 2 ohm speakers.
I've heard good things about the customer service at Crutchfield, but (imo) it comes at a hefty price. The Infinity speakers I put in the rear deck of my Monte are $230 through Crutchfield. I purchased the exact same speakers elsewhere for $110 and used less than $5 worth of materials (terminals/solder/shrink tube) to install them. The $115 savings could purchase the matching 6.5" door speakers with enough money left over to enjoy a couple cold ones once installation is complete.
Was the Bose option available in '05? I thought it was only available in '06/'07.

Not sure, I couldn't find the Bose label anywhere, but I tried to use the non Bose adapter with my new headend & it wouldn't work, went with the Bose version and it worked. I checked with a local installer and he said they were Bose, would think it would be labeled then. Not sure, but I wouldn't pay $300 for a pair of factory when you can get aftermarket for less that will sound way better (installed correctly)
Good luck with the audio mod.
