Front dash speakers.
Ok guys. 1986 LS
Here is what I have so far.
Kenwood KDC 990 headunit.
Pioneer 4x6 in the rear deck.
2 Kicker Comps for subs.
350x1 Rockford Punch Amp.
STOCK front dash speakers.
I'm looking to upgrade the front dash speakers with something with that is loud and decient quailty. I have to crank it to 27 to 28 on the volume to hear 'Lil Wayne talk over the bass. I'm hoping upgraded front dash speakers will help this cause. They are something like 3-1/2 inch circles. What do you guys suggest me getting for the money. I have about $60 bucks to play with and the local Custom sounds wants $110 bucks for a pair of Kicker 3-1/2 inch'ers.
Looking for the best bang for my buck.
Thanks...

RE: Front dash speakers.
When I had my old '87 SS, I had a set of blue Pioneer 3.5's, and they hit the highs amazingly. I could easily adjust the fronts to scream over my 2 Kicker L5's in the back. They were cheap too. In my 2000 SS i have now I have Phoenix Gold components throughout my car, and they arevery reasonablypricedtoo for their quality.

i have jbl's all around i gotan adapterkit that allowed me to install 6x9s where tha 4x10s used to be and 3 1/2s up front. I suggest u wait another month and save a little bit more and get speakers you'll be happy with for a long time. The little bit of extra money will pay of in the end.

Jatt,
6x9's fit into the little metal holder 'cups' I guess you would say? I had a buddy give me a pair of 4x6's to throw in there, but you can barely hear them... If 6x9's will fit there I'd love to save up and get a nice pair...

RE: Front dash speakers.
I just boughta decent set of 3.5" speakers at Radio Shak and out them in the dash of my '86LS. They made a nice difference in sound.
When I got the car, the PO had 6x9s mounted to a piece of plywood with holes cut w/a hole saw so the sound could get past the plywood. He had this mounted to the support at the back of backseat inside the trunk.
Unless I turned the sound like 75% to the 6x9s you couldn't hear them over the 3.5s in the dash.

when i was first lookin for an aftermarket system for my ss a&b sound told me i'd have to cut holes in the back for tha 6x9s but i went across the street to beamriders and they sold me a $35 adapter kit which allowed me to have tha 6x9s where tha stock 4x10s used to be...
