Default A few HID questions

After spending $50 on a set of silverstar ultra low beams (had one blow out this evening), I find I could have got a HID conversion kit for $100 so I'm going to make the jump because IMO you can never have too much light Sucks we wasted the money on the silverstars but I'd rather have HID. I've used the search and found some links to different places to get them but I still had a few questions

1. Would you get 8000K or 10,000K?
2. Does everyone just do the low beam, or do they do both? I was thinking just low because that's what you use most of the time, but maybe both would be better.
3. Is there anything else I should look for when buying, or any tips? Thank you for any help

I'm a mechanic so installation shouldn't be a problem if I need to tap into the wiring

Never mind...after doing some more research I found the do it right and not blind anyone (and I want to do it right) we need to also install projector light housings and its really out of our budget if we have to get those to. Thank you for looking and fell free to delete this thread mods

Yes, to do it the 100% correct way, projectors are definitely the way to go. However, I really don't think a nice 4300K-5000K, 35W HID kit, aimed low would hurt anything. Install and find a nice, white wall to pull your car up to and make sure they are aimed correctly so you aren't blinding anyone.

These are my intentions. I've read decent reviews about a kit from Xentec that you can find on ebay for $50ish. I intend on putting them in my low and fog lights.

This might be a dumb question, but do I need a conversion kit for high beams and low beams? And what should I do with my fog lights? I dont want them to look different.

you need a different set for each set of lights you wanna do. for example if you wanna do highs, lows, and fogs, you would need three set of hids. Which should include: wiring harness, 2 ballasts, and 2 bulbs. and yes you would wanna do the fogs to as it would look weird if you had hid low beams with halogen fogs.
