Default Dash kit question on a Fifth gen

Well when i got my head-unit, they sent the flush-mount kit with it, and it pushed the unit into the little tube in the back, so it stuck out a little bit. I had to buy the ugly kit that sticks the unit out. Anybody else have this issue?
Would it harm anything to take a dremel and cut it off?

If my memory serves me right, that tube you see is from the A/C-heater duct work. I have that kit that pushes out the radio. Unless you plan on rerouting everything back there, i'd say your kinda stuck with that kit.

Or could always put in the stock radio.

i have a tape player. the little tab is ontop of the tube, the tube itself is low enough that the head-unit wont it it, just the freaking tab

That tab is to support the stock radio ( they are really heavy). You can probably cut the tab off itself. take a look again and see if its a viable solution.
