In dash DVD
I got a 2000 Monte LS and I want to put in a in dash DVD player. Now I know that there are a lot of car settings that run through the factory stereo. (reseting oil change light, car alarm settings, ext.) My question. Is there a specific model of DVD player I have to buy that would allow me to still access and change these settings. Also would my audio functions on the steering wheel still work with a after market stereo? Any help would be great>
Hello, welcome to the forum...
None of the aftermarket stereo units work with the factory steering wheel controlls out of the box. But, there is a adapter that you will have to buy that will work in between the stereo and the factory steering wheel controlls. Mickey or Rich would have a good line on the exact adapter in reference.

go to crutchfeild.com and get the adaptor . they are like 60.00 us and it will interface for you and also give you your door chime.
Other wise youc an get that adaptor or the one like it with out the chime feture in it and also a relocation harness and then it will relocate the stock stereo to your trunk so tha tyou can rest all of the stuff you need to.
Other wise there are several ways to resett he diffrent alarms etc... Oil can be done by hitting the gas peddel three times fast whne you turn the car on,
As far as settign the alarm unless you have a true alarm you have the factory set up you can actualy get things that will piggy back that system threw Summit racing.com and it will give you more features,
but you do have some options out there, If you do a serch for stereos in this fourm you should beabel to find diffrent things that have pointed to other articas ETc...
