Cassette Player Problems
Ok so i finally found my cassette adapter so i can use the ipod with the stereo in the car. I placed it in and found only sounds coming out of the right side of the car, and everytime the bass would hit the speakers in the back would crackle. So i figured that the adapter was garbage because its been through hell and back. So my friend gave me a adapter which was basically brand new. Plugged it in and found sound coming out of both sides but the crackling was still there and then the stereo ejected the tape and said check tape? I know the speakers are not blown because i can use fm transmitter and CD and they work fine and produce a good amount of clean bass at almost full volume. Any ideas? The car is a 2000 SS wth the CD player and Tape Combo

Maybe you have the volume too loud on your ipod or whatever you are using. With my adapter i have to keep the volume at about 50% on my ipod or it'll start distorting and sounding like crap.

Ok ill try that, but also why would the tape be kicking out?

I think you have to stop the cassette deck from using the auto reverse. That is probably what happened when you push the seek button. I am just guessing tho. i Read something about it in the manual i think

Im sure you have used that cassette player....
maybe it could also use a good cleaning?
I would use some Qtips and some hydrogen peroxide...
Never use any kind of alcohol products like rubbing alcohol...etc.
As this would cause some of the plateing on the head to dissolve...
And just use a minute mount on the Qtip and swipe the head etc..in 1 direction...never go back and forth..as your just spreading the dirt grime etc all over it...This is in the vehicle cleaning...
What really needs to be done..Is to completely remove it from the vehicle. open up the cases and do a thorough cleaning. swab, wipe, vacuum etc.. To eliminate any future issues once you get it hooked up the way you want it...
But thats just me!..
