in most cases all the caps do the same thing. there all are designed to hold on to power until it is needed. But with the caps you have some that are gold plated and then you have others that are just nickel plated. whcih one you go with depend on what kinds of connectors that you have runnign off of your amp wires.

well, like with most repairs/maintenance issues on cars, it is usually best to start with the least expensive options and work your way up. Personally, I would not use a cap in this situation. Only after I upgraded the alternator would I introduce a cap. Why? Cause the cap is probably the most commonly misused item in car stereo. It should be used to decrease the load put on the amp, in effect, making it work more efficiently. Using a cap on an obviously underpowered electrical system is not the answer, yet people use it for this reason everyday, which baffles me. I would strongly urge you to upgrade your alternator instead, cause truth be told, after getting the cap, you may still need to do so.

do you know how much it is? You're talking about getting an Optima, a high output alt isn't much more than that. And it's the BEST way to fix this problem. Seems like a no brainer to me

damn! That's it?! Out here, you're paying at least $150 for a hi output alternator.

I've heard good and bad things about underdrive pulleys. Yes, they can free up some horses, but I've heard they can have adverse effects on your electrical system, specifically if you're running a stereo system. Something you may want to look into before you dive in.

what advers efects do they have?
All your doing is turnign the alt at a slower rpm so if your doing 5000 rpms they might be running at 4000 not that i know this exampel is true for the rpms but that is the idea of it.

I don't recall offhand, I was looking into doing this on my Accord a while ago and decided not to due to that. I would suggest that you read up on it, ask people who know, google search, just make sure you are aware of what you are getting yourself into. It won't bother me either way, just trying to help you out.
