the 10" version of these is accualy a secrete high end sq sub. allot of sq guys run the IB and they do incredible, for bang for buck you cant beat these. the 8s are pretty much the same thing. dont always jump on audio deals. you can always find deals, but the right deal for you is hat you need. ti takes many years before you know whats good for you. at least for me it did :P

sealed is good too. the right size box can depend im not familuar for these inparticular but they can run in pretty small boxes from what ive seen

The Type-S is their bottom product, the Type-R is the middle and Type-X is the top of the line for Alpine.

I personally don't like the Type-S they seem a little cheap to me and they're kind of quiet, even if they didn't look like it on The Fast and Furious in Toretto's RX7 lol

Oh wow, just kidding, looks like they moved everything up one step and brought in the Type-X, that's been around for some time now lol

haha yeah thats what i mean. I think the type S would be good. 1 10 or 1 12 in a smaller box should sound good! If it really is just the old type r then thats a pretty good deal haha

Default Got a 10" Now, Attaching it to Stock Headunit? Help ! :)

Alright so i scrapped the idea of the 8" sub and started looking for a 10". I came across a Rockford Fosgate Punch 2 with a 800 watt Sony amp and box for 150$. Luckily i had a surround sound to trade...which i got for free and he accepted it So looks like i got this system for free. I was going to upgrade the headunit but now hearing about that security codes might pop up and check engine lights and all that other crap, ive decided to just keep the stock headunit. It has CD and Cassette so it has everything i need Have you guys ran a sub off the headunit? How did it sound and how well were you able to manage the bass from the subs and the bass from the speakers?

Just get a different headunit, you have a 2000, it's easy to unlock those headunits.
