I am putting my alpine 9831 back in my Monte, would it sound better if we bypass the factory amp, or leave as is

You mean run the stock speakers to the Alpine head unit? No, that would not be better. The external stock amplifier(in the trunk) puts out more rms watts than the internal amp in the Alpine head unit. I dont know the exact numbers, but I do know the stock amp has more power. So I think it would be better to not bypass.

have you upgraded your interior speakers or are they still stock? If stock, don't bypass. If upgraded, bypass. Reason being, stock amp is wired to run at two ohms, the Alpine does it's thing at four ohms. Stock speakers are two ohms and therefore better suited to run off the stock amp.

Then absolutely bypass the factory amp. Running the speakers off the head unit will sound alot better than running them off the factory amp.
