Air vent

I just checked some pics I have of my dash. Those vents are removable. There are tabs on the top and bottom of them. There are guide pins as well. But looking at how that vent is smashed, the tabs to hold it in might also be busted up. I recall one vent on the right of the instrument cluster, GM used heat stakes to hold it in. I had to replace that on my car. I drilled the heat stakes and pulled the vent and glued a new one in.
Sadly, that plastic tends to get brittle from years of sun light. I like the vents GM did, but honestly, they are too fragile. I get nervous any time someone tries to adjust them on mine. And my experience in the junk yards, pain in the butt to find ones that are not destroyed. You *MIGHT* get lucky and find one that you can replace a vent with broken fins.
