5th gen 1999 front speakers
Well I took my door panels off today to get my windows tinted and I noticed the paper cone is torn on my front door speaker. What is a good sounding replacement speaker for the front doors on the Monte? I have a factory head unit, I do not plan on installing subs, and chances are I will change the rear speakers also.
I went on crutchfield and there aren’t too many 5 1/4" speakers for the front doors. A lot of them had a separate tweeter that would need to be installed, but i would rather not do this.
Any suggestions? Thanks

The aftermarket speaker you were looking at with called "component speakers". Which, if you are going for the overhaul interior look, then yeah, those are the way to go, but if you want the regular sound back in your monte, I would suggest some (2 or 3-way) 6 1/2 speakers. Those speakers do not need an extra tweeter with it.
With my system, What I did was bought some Pioneer component speakers (by mistake lol) and installed both (the aftermarket tweeter and speaker. Now, I made the new tweeter fit in its existing hole (where the old tweeter was) and the same for the speakers and now my front speakers SOUND REAL GOOD. I can show you pictures of it if you like.

Thanks rgant, I have the old style monte so they are different speakers than your newer one. I did find some 2 way Pioneer Premier speakers, the rear 6x9 say they will fit bur the front 5 1/4 say they will not but i am going to make them fit. Ill let you guys know how it comes out!
