Default From 2 to 3 subs! Is it possible?

I am trying to upgrade from 2 subs to 3 subs wired to one amp. I have been searching and reading others opinions about it but it is not SET IN STONE of this even happening. What I want to know is will my amp be overkilled or will it handle the 3 subs.

Equipment:
(3) 12" TS-W1208D2 Pioneer Champion
(1) Hyfonics Brutus BXI2010d (2,000 x 1 RMS @ 1 ohm)
--- currently using it now with just the 2 subs
Stock Headunit
(1) Scosche Loc-80

I did have 2 12" subs hooked up to that amp but I end up putting it into protect mode and now its in the shop.
The tech from the company said I had it wired at .5 ohm load which the amp is capable at 1 ohm. So, instead of upgrading the amp, I was just thinking if I can add 3 subs (all the same, just an additional one to the two I already have) to the amp and will I get the same output as by having only two subs! Is that possible?

Also have read that the amp I have is daisy capable? Which can power 2 more amps at the sametime and get more power. Or I can be wrong! What you guys think?

Yes, you can run 3 D2 subs on that amp. The ohm load to the amp at rest will be 1.33 ohms so you'll be good. You won't be getting the full power from that amp though but the addition of the other sub should offset that especially since they'll still be getting plenty more than their rated rms power. The extra cone area should increase output a little, actually.

I've done 3 12" JBL's in an '06 Scion TC before. That was a pretty good little setup.

The amp won't be running at full power, so if it's really a 1ohm stable amp like the specs you gave us, you wont have any issues at 1.33ohm.

For three dual voice coil subs to connect to your amp at close to 1ohm you'll be wiring as such:

Whoever strongly advised you not to do it doesn't know what they're talking about, period! Those subs are rated at 400rms each, your amp does 1300rms @ 2ohms, once you factor in box rise your final impedance will be over 1.33ohms, it'll be alot closer to 2 ohms than it'll be to 1ohm that's for sure. So lets just say it's exactly 2 ohms, that means with your amps gain set right and your stereo maxed out to the point right before clipping, each sub will be getting about 430rms......That's perfect! So yeah, your advisor is a dumb *ss!!
