Default 1998 Monte Carlo Passenger side Air Bag vinyl unglued

Hey everyone.....I have a 1998 Monte Carlo Z34 and the Vinyl (or whatever material) that covers the passenger side air bag has come unglued (NOT cracked) i'm guessing due to the sunlight/heat passing through the windsheild.Has anyone else ever had this issue,is it fixable and if so how did it cost to fix? Thanks!!!!

I've never seen it happen, but it wouldn't surprise me that it happened to someone. Honestly, if you've tried to reglue it and that didn't work, I would just buy another air bag from either a local junk yard or online and replace it.

I'm hoping someone else might have experienced it.....I don't know how complicated it would be to remove the airbag and possible heat the vinyl with a blow dryer and reglue it.I may try to take it to a reputable upholstery place and see what they say.

Unfortunately, no shop is going to fix the vinyl on your airbag. It is illegal to alter the airbag in any way so its too much of a liability for a shop to mess with it. If you cant glue it back down yourself you may need to replace the airbag or live with the peeling vinyl.

Default Airbag Unglued

I own a 1997 Monte Carlo. It happened to me and I ended up having to buy another one. Once it comes off, it kinda shrinks and it becomes impossible to re glue. Also make sure a professional does the install. Once you pop off the old one, it's real tough to put the new one in, unless you've done it before.
Good luck
