Hey guys i want to know what a y pipe will do sound wise. i already have mt resonator cut out and a cherry bomb muffler. but i love the look of the duals on the SS. If i were to put a y pipe up there will the sound of the exhaust change? would dual glasspacks sound the same as the single or would it be really loud?

 

For looks alone I'd do it. Montes with single tips look weird.

As far as sound, I can only assume the sound would double...?

 

When I first had my duals installed the installer decided to jerry rig up a pipe off the stock pipe to do the duals. In reality it didn't do ****, and everything came out the 1 muffler. When I installed a real Y pipe, the sound got quieter as it was now splitting the amount of exhaust that each muffler received in half.

 

Oh so it will quiet it down? That makes sense due to 2 mufflers. Did the sound get deeper?

 

No, but it cut down on the drone.

 

Ok I might do this once I get a new windshield. Bastard high way patrol decided to pull me over for a crack In the passenger side that is less than 6 inches in size

Ok on yours I noticed it was louder and deeper. Defiantly on my list to do

 

I should add I added a shorter resonator, you'd probably be fine without a resonator though

 

Yeah I might throw a new resonator up though because I think it will be really buzzy. I've heard a few guys in YouTube and their exhaust would buzz at higher rpms
