I have Magnaflows on my Monte, and love them...loud when when I open it up, but mild and well toned on the highway, just the way I like it.

On my V8 truck, I got Flowmasters, and also love the rumble it has...

I was told by the guy that did my exhaust on the Monte, and confirmed it with a mechanic buddy that Magnaflows sound best for V6's and Flowmasters or Magnaflows sound good on V8's....I couldn't tell you my opinion on this, because i've never had anything but the Magnaflows on my Monte...But I can say I do like the tone they have.....

I think that is too general of a blanket statement- I mean what sounds good on a 350Z won't necessarily sound good on a GN, you know?

Personally, I dont like the sound of the magnaflow on my monte at all while driving- I think the borla pro xs sound better.

I can agree its general, I should have said that my mechanic friend told me that OHV pushrod V6's sound much different than DOHC or SOHC V6's....That being said, in his opinion, Magnaflows sounded better than Flowmasters....I was only compairing the two brands, Borla and any other brand was not part of the conversation for that matter.

I was told that Magnaflow and Borla mufflers were all constructed in the same manner, and they were not all that different.

If you ask me, it is kinda general to just compair one brand from another, because each brand has several different mufflers, and they will all sound different. There are many options out there...

But whatever the case is, I personally like my Magnaflows....

Personally I

I look at materials / looks / sound

When I get my exhaust I'm going to want 304 stainless for everything.

looks isnt all that important to me. i mean i dont want a million clamps and a huge pile of rust but its about performance, dont forget its under the car. i run a mandrel bent 2.5s with flowmaster 40s on the 80, and the magnaflow catback on the 06. if its going to be loud then it better be able to hold its own!

by looks, I just don't want the metal to get all rusty and nasty looking and I want the piping/tips to have a nice shine.

ive never really had a corrosion problem with aluminized piping. its never rusted out onme and ive had the car for 10 years. tips on the other hand i think you get what you pay for if you buy some nickel and dime chromed steel or what not ive seen them rust in a few weeks and the tip is what everyone sees.
