this is what i found...

u know what that is? thats a line for ur EGR, stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. The EGR valve allows exhaust gas back into the intake manifold to be combusted further. These exhaust gases bring unnecessary heat and unclean air into the intake charge, which has a negative effect on power output. go to milzymotorsports.com they have a delete kit, This EGR delete kit includes: Water-jetted aluminum EGR block off plate for intake manifold, Custom fitting for exhaust manifold, EGR gasket, and the bolts in nuts necessary for install. NOTE NOTE NOTENote: PCM work or EGR sim device is required to avoid DTC's related to the EGR. NOTE NOTE NOTE

The thing circled in blue in the lower picture is EGR, but he wasn't talking about that.

This is partial mis-information. Obviously it has a negative effect on power output- that is the whole idea of EGR- you take a semi-inert gas, feed it back into the intake- that displaces some of the clean incoming air- which means less fuel has to be injected because you have less fresh air. So when EGR is open, it essentially makes your engine perform like a smaller engine (making less power and using less gas). So you get better gas mileage-plus any HC chains that weren't completely burned up the first time through, have a second chance to get burned- thus reducing emissions as well.

However, you make it seem like it is always open- it is not. At WOT, heavy load, and at idle- the EGR closes, and allows 100% fresh air in- so you make 100% power then (and have a more stable idle since that is a major time for misfires and stumbling).

IMO doing an EGR delete is a complete waste of time (and money due to the loss of gas mileage) unless you have an L67 with an intercooler. Then you have a reason to not want EGR plugging up the tight spaces in the IC core- but on a normal engine, this isn't a problem- so all you're doing is paying money to get worse gas mileage- and end up with the same peak horsepower.

PCV is a bad thing to get rid of also- people do all kinds of extra work to keep it functioning. The biggest reason likely is because it helps to vent the crankcase more than just putting a breather on and venting it to atmosphere. I guess you can think of it kindof like a cheap- version of those vacuum pumps they run to the crankcase on drag cars. Anything to positively evacuate the crankcase- and to try and get it to a lower pressure than atmospheric, the better (think less resistance to the pistons coming down).
