i dont see how it could be. on my car it is just covered by a piece of rubber like a cap. but it does lead into the intake manifold. so it has no use as of stock.

now there is something in this one but this is a different car, not sure what car, but you can see there is no air temp sensor in the intake tube. so what do you guys make of this?? disregard the blue arrow.

You don't see how it could be? Its a nipple that is open to the intake manifold- for connecting a vacuum line to - of course it is. Your intake manifold is probably used on multiple vehicles, and some vehicles may need a vacuum hook up there instead of one of the other ports. It is capped off to keep it from leaking.

now there is something in this one but this is a different car, not sure what car,
See- its a vacuum nipple.

i think i might just put a breather filter on it for teh hell of it.
Whoa, what? Don't do that. This isn't a "don't do that" like the ricey intercooler on an NA setup- this is a "don't do that" meaning you'll screw with your engine by doing this.

If you put a breather filter on it, think about what is going to happen- when the engine is running, the intake manifold has a vacuum in it- so obviously air will be sucked in through the hole. Now lets think about what this will do to the engine:

A) At idle, your throttle blade shuts completely, and your idle air control valve meters a small amount of air in to keep the engine running. By opening this port, you're going to add more air after the throttle blade- so the engine will race for a second until the idle air control valve closes to level off the idle. Hopefully the idle air valve could close enough to keep the car from running at a 'high idle' due to the leak

B). Now think about how your engine provides fueling. As the air comes through the filter- it goes through that little square box- the MAF sensor, which measures the air coming through so that it can add the right amount of fuel. If you open up this port to the atmosphere, now you will be introducing air after the MAF- meaning air will be getting in after the MAF- so the car will stumble a bit and run lean (because you have air going in, but no fuel to match it). Sure the O2 sensor will see this, and will adjust by really skewing your fuel trims- but do you really want to drive around with skewed fuel trims- it only has so much adjustment- what if something else starts leaking and it can't add any more fuel?

Putting a breather on there (or removing the cap) would be just like drilling an extra hole in the intake manifold- obviously no one would ever do that.

but you can see there is no air temp sensor in the intake tube. so what do you guys make of this??
Could be the IAT sensor is just located somewhere else. On many of the LSx engines- the IAT is part of the MAF sensor (so you have 5 wires going to the MAF instead of the usual 3).

dont worry LOL i should have said im leaving the little rubber cap on sorry (im kinda smiling right now) im just doing it for a little more look to the engine. thanks for looking out man. im not stupid though. as for the vaccume nipple i mean idont know how it could be for MY car, i thought you were saying im missing somthing(like you might not have known there was that rubber cap) i know... i need to explain myself better, i always assume people know exactly what im talking about, sorry. but again, thanks for looking out.
one more thing "what do you guys make of this" im asking if this is something that is used on other cars with this engine? obviously from the pic above it is> again im not stupid LOL

Well, look at it this way- if you ever do a turbo- you could hook onto that for a boost gauge

I'm sure one of the hardcore 60* V6 guys could tell you exactly what its used for on the vehicles that use it.
